Guided tour of Pitzhanger Manor and Gallery, Mattock Lane, W5 5EQ

Thursday 19th September 2019 2 pm

Built between 1800 and 1804 by Sir John Soane, one of Britain’s most influential architects, Pitzhanger Manor was designed by him as his dream country retreat in what was then rural Ealing. Newly restored and returned to Soane’s original design, Ptzhanger is a rare example in London of a spectacular Soane building largely intact. The gallery has been restored to allow the exhibition of works of art by artists, designers and architects. Each tour can comprise a maximum of 15 people therefore there will be tours at 2pm and 2.15pm. I would ask that you all arrive by 1.55pm so that I can allocate the groups. Each tour will last approximately one and a half hours and will also allow you entrance to the Gallery where there is intended to be an exhibition, as yet not advertised. Pitzhanger is an 8 minute walk from Ealing Broadway station. Turn left out of the station and follow the signs for Ealing Green. I shall be waiting for you at 1.55pm at the Gallery reception next to the Welcome desk. There are two cafes, Soane’s Kitchen which serves lunch and The Rickyard, a kiosk cafe in the adjacent park next to Pitzhanger’s education space. The cost of the tour will be £24. Please send cheques payable to The Arts Society Highgate to Anita Morgan 2 Robin Grove, N6 6NY. Any queries to or 07767 778 430
